(Don't) Change your numnbers A few years back my mom walks in the room: "You have to check my Lotto!" she cries out! And yes! Even after checking 3 times had to conclude she indeed had 6 numbers right. At that moment there were 3 winners with a profit of about 21 million Belgian francs each. I was of course happy because I figured the son (me) would get some of that, too. However, it turned out my mother had changed the numbers she always used to play with from the very beginning of the Lotto just the week before and the new numbers she had used were not winners... 5 minutes later I took 2 Perdolans because the hang-over was very big. Mr. Postman I heard a mailman had won 10 million Belgian francs a while ago, managed to spend it all in a year time (or was it two years?) and then went back to his old job. Bis A guy from Borsbeek (Belgium) was very lucky: by copying his lotto form, he accidentally copies one grid twice. It turned out to be the winning combination so he won the jackpot twice! Not so lucky... An elderly lady from Ghent plays the Belgian Lotto since the beginning with the same numbers. One day she got ill and couldn't make it to the paper stand to validate her form. You can guess what happened: her numbers are the winning combination. She would have had 6 winning numbers... Unfortunately her husband died a year earlier, otherwise he would have brought the form in... One wrong number Another lady had real bad luck: some time ago you had to fill out a separate form for each drawing (nowadays the same form goes through a machine). She had been using the same numbers for years and years. However, when copying her form, she made a small mistake: she crossed out "19" instead of the box directly above that, the number "13". She had 5 winning numbers and the sixth would have been "13" had she chosen that one. Not bad, but you have to know that the difference between 5 and 6 correct numbers is several million Belgian francs... |
